NEW
QUAY which has been
described as “the jewel in the crown of
beautiful West Wales” is less than 2 miles
away. With its blue flag beach, small fishing
fleet and colourful pleasure craft, not to
mention the
bottle-nosed dolphins,
harbour porpoise, and Atlantic grey seals which
reside in Cardigan Bay and are frequently seen from the pier.
It is estimated that about
130 bottle-nosed dolphins are resident in
Cardigan Bay and the voluntee rs of “Dolphin
Watch” spend may hours gathering information
about them. Boat trips operate daily
in the Summer, and visitors can enjoy a trip to
Birds Rock and see the most important sea bird
breeding colony in our County, and also observe
the dolphins and porpoise, should these wild
creatures choose to appear and maybe follow the
boat. A Water Sports centre is also based in New
Quay, and you can take instruction on sailing
and all manner of water activities. |
Much of this coastline is
designated Marine Heritage Coast, and there are numerous other
lovely beaches to visit, and also many small towns to explore.
The nearest main centres are Aberaeron, Cardigan and
Aberystwyth on the coast and inland Lampeter and Carmarthen are
within easy reach.
Walkers will enjoy the many miles of coastal paths now available, and
golf, fishing and horse riding are all within reach. |

ABERAERON,
8 miles north of New Quay is famous for
its Georgian Architecture and brightly painted
houses, shops, and pretty harbour. Aberaeron
hosts many events throughout the Summer as do
the other locals towns. These include the
annual Festival of Welsh Ponies and Cobs, this
County being famous for the ponies bred at the
many studs hereabouts. Craft fairs, Sea Food
Festival, and Carnival are just a few of the
other events held in Aberaeron each Summer. |

This region is also well known for the quality of its
food. Award winning cheeses, honey, wine etc are all produced
locally. Fresh fish can be purchased from the kiosks on the
harbours at both New Quay and Aberaeron. Some butchers have the
names and addresses of the farms where their lamb, pork and beef
were reared.
We have two theatres within reach, Theatr Mwldan in
Cardigan which also has a Cinema, and the Arts Centre in
Aberystwyth. Both of these theatres have very full programmes
throughout the year offering something to please all tastes, with
both professional performances and semi professional.
In short this region has
everything you could wish for, and “TY PAER” offers accommodation to
match! |
